Katy
Financial Coordinator
Katy and her family live in Madison, VA. Katy has worked in the dental field for over 24 years with a wealth of experience in helping to guide patient’s through their treatment plans, finances and insurance. We are so lucky to have Katy on our team. She is the friendly voice you hear on the phone, the smile that checks you in and out of your appointments and is happy to help guide you through your care.
Kelly
Scheduling Coordinator
Kelly grew up in Albemarle County and has worked in and out of the dental field for the past 10 years. Kelly was hired in winter of 2023 as a temp to help out and we liked her so much we invited her to join the team! Kelly always has a great attitude and is happy to help out in our admin role as scheduler or jump into the back and assist, we are so thankful for her flexibility! One of Kelly’s talents include being amazing with our youngest patients for their cleaning visits. Kelly has one daughter, Penelope “P” who is 2 years old and her weekends are full of spending time with her daughter and family.
Alex
Registered Dental Hygienist
Born and raised in Venezuela, Alex received his first dental degree in 2009 and practiced in Venezuela for 6 years. In 2015, he and his wife moved to New York City, where they worked full time as dental assistants and also while attending Dental Hygiene School in Hostos Community College (CUNY) in The Bronx. Alex became a registered dental hygienist in 2020 and practiced for 4 years in NYC before relocating to Charlottesville in the Summer of 2024. Alex loves spending time with his wife, Raquel, likes outdoor activities and enjoys playing sports.
Jennifer
Registered Dental Hygienist
Jennifer spent most of her childhood in Spain due to her father’s military career before moving to Virginia. After high school, Jennifer served 4 years in the United States Air Force with two deployments to the Middle East. After the military, Jennifer went to Virginia Commonwealth University where she graduated in 2011 with her bachelors degree in Dental Hygiene. In her spare time, Jennifer loves to spend time with her two daughters and Jack Russel Terriers. She loves road trips, camping, hiking, and going to the mountains and the beach.
Raquel
Registered Dental Hygienist
Born and raised in Venezuela, Raquel received his first dental degree in 2009 and practiced in Venezuela for 6 years. In 2015, she and her husband ( see Alex above 🙂 moved to New York City, where they worked full time as dental assistants and also while attending Dental Hygiene School in Hostos Community College (CUNY) in The Bronx. Raquel became a registered dental hygienist in 2020 and practiced for 4 years in NYC before relocating to Charlottesville in the Summer of 2024. Raquel and Alex recently bought a house in Waynesboro and have spent the last couple years making it their own. She has family back in NYC they visit often and she looks forward to traveling more on their vacations now that they have settled here in Central VA.
Cari
Clinical Assistant
Cari grew up right outside of Charlottesville in Scottsville, VA. Cari’s background has been in childcare and as a cheerleading coach. She completed her training in dental assisting at the end of 2016 and soon after joined our team. Cari brings her positive attitude and gentle ways to the office, helping our patients feel comfortable and well cared for. She has two daughters and enjoys camping, going to the beach and running to and from her girls many activities.
Mary
Clinical Assistant
Mary says that she has worked in the dental field since she came out of the womb. Mary comes from a family full of dentists and has been working in dentistry officially for over 40 years. Mary has worked with family as a dental assistant as well as the same doctor in Richmond for decades until he retired a few years ago. We hope Mary has now found the dental practice home she can settle into until she herself is ready to hang it up. But not yet! Along with a tremendous amount of experience she brings a love of chatting and hard work to the office and we are so glad to have her. Mary lives in Barboursville with her partner, daughter and a naughty dog. She has a love of wine, stump burning and relaxing in her very carefully placed hammock.
JaKayla
Clinical Assistant
You may recognize JaKayla from years past! JaKayla started working for Ivy Dental in 2023. She took a little hiatus to try out another field but when we sought her out to see if she had any interest in coming back we were lucky enough to have her re-join the team. JaKayla ( whom we call JK) brings an energy to the office that we all appreciate. She is a motivated team player who has taken on more and more responsibility over the years, but still brings a youthful, optimistic outlook to life that spills over into our days. JaKayla lives in Louisa and is very close to her family. She spends free time traveling, hiking and searching out new experiences. She obtained her Certified Dental Assisting Certificate in 2022 and continues to study for and receive advanced certifications in clincial dental assisting.
