Dr. Harding is having a BABY!
For those who have visited the office recently you may have noticed Dr. Harding is expecting in early August
We appreciate your understanding during this exciting time as Dr. Harding and her husband take some personal time to concentrate on their growing family. We are coming up on the one year anniversary of Ivy Dental’s opening!!! Over the last year Ivy Dental has been Dr. Harding’s baby, to which she has devoted all time and energy to building the practice, putting together a dental team that enjoy their jobs and a family of patients she cares about. In the planning of her maternity leave finding the right people to put in place to care for her patients was one of the most daunting preparations that had to be made. Leaving her team, her patient’s and her “baby” of a practice in another’s hands as you can imagine was not going to be easy. Luckily some of her friends and colleagues have stepped up and she is excited to have Dr. Broth, Dr. Collins and Dr. Schaap cover while she is out. She knows her team and her patients will be well cared for in her absence and couldn’t feel better about the providers being great people and clinicians to keep up the work she is so proud of at Ivy Dental 🙂
Dr. Broth was introduced to Dr. Harding through a mutual friend in the dental field and upon meeting found that he would be a great addition to the team to help cover Dr. Harding while she is out! Dr. Broth’s dental career began in the Air Force following graduation from dental school at the University of Maryland. His time in the military allowed him to rotate through all the specialties and become a well rounded dental provider giving him a great advantage throughout his career. Desiring to be able to care for his patients in a comfortable and compassionate manner Dr. Broth maintained a strong commitment to continuing education classes allowing his patients to benefit from the latest methods and technology. This continuing education path eventually awarded him the highest honor of Mastership by The Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Broth has previously served as the president of the Virginia Academy of General Dentistry, has worked to help those in need through the MOM project ( Mission of Mercy), and currently works part time in Richmond, VA after selling his private practice office. On a personal level Dr. Broth and his wife, GeorgeAnn, welcomed a new granddaughter into the family this summer ( six grandchildren total!) and enjoys skiing, biking, golf and the gym when not in the office.
Dr. Alex Schaap recently moved to the Charlottesville area after selling his practice in Manhattan after 25+ years of owning a successful cosmetic practice. Dr. Schaap and his wife Robyn were drawn to Charlottesville after their daughter attended UVA and the family fell in love with the area. Dr. Harding met Alex after she began her business last year and he took over her position at the Piedmont Regional Dental Center as the Dental Director. Since their professional introduction Dr. Schaap has been both a friend and mentor to Dr. Harding both in business and in dental arts. Dr. Schaap is so very excited for Dr. Harding to be starting a family as his family means the world to him and he is very proud of both his son and daughter who live in DC and Boston following their graduation from college.
We hope you welcome Dr. Broth, Dr. Collins and Dr. Schaap and allow them to care for your dental needs during this exciting time. We are lucky to have each of their help and are confident they will be continue the quality care with a relaxed, friendly atmosphere that our patients have grown to love about coming to Ivy Dental.
